Creating a Skills Profile 1.5

Welcome to SkyHive! The very first step to getting started is creating your SkyHive profile.

You should receive a profile activation email once your Admin adds you. Click the activation button in the email or sign in with SSO to start the profile creation process.

Extraction: Adding a Resume, CV or LinkedIn Profile PDF

1: By uploading your Resume, CV or LinkedIn Profile PDF, SkyHive will automatically fill out parts of your profile while extracting your skills. You can also complete this process by filling out the sections manually.

We support Word or PDF Format.

Our platform also suggests skills you have missed from their resume or the external labor market to create a more robust skill profile.

Experience

1: Based on the successful extraction of your Resume, CV or LinkedIn PDF Profile, you will notice that the following categories have been filled:

  • Position
  • Company
  • Start Date & End Date
  • Description

We would recommend that you make sure that the information is accurate.

Skill Assessment

You will need to individually understand your skills and additional insights to receive position matching and curated learning content.

1: Upon arriving on the Skills page, you will have the ability to add Skills to your profile and rank on a three-point proficiency scale explained below:

  • ENTRY LEVEL - Limited knowledge and exposure to the skill leading to a fundamental understanding
  • INTERMEDIATE - Knowledge and practice using the skill without knowing the expert concepts
  • EXPERIENCED - Expert knowledge and use of the skills and ability to assist or lead others in their application

Note: If the 5-point scale has been enabled on your account, the scale is explained below:

Beginner: Have an understanding of the basic techniques or concepts associated with this skill but unable to complete the task without assistance.

Intermediate: Have the level of experience as trainee on-the-job. Expected to need help when performing this skill.

Experienced: Able to successfully complete tasks. Help from an expert may be required from to time, but can usually perform the skill independently.

Advanced: Can perform the actions associated without assistance. Often known as 'a person to ask' when difficult questions arise regarding this skill.

Expert: A known expert in this area. Can provide guidance, troubleshoot and answer questions related to this area of expertise and the field where the skill is used.

2: To manually Add a Skill, enter the skill into the text box. Wait a few seconds, and a list will be populated to choose from.

3: Click Enter on your keyboard, and then you will be asked to choose the proficiency level of the skill.

4: By scrolling down to the bottom of the page, you will see a list of Recommended Skills. These come from two places:

  • Profile: Extracted from your resume and/or entered details that you could add to your profile.
  • Labor Market: Recommended based on live labour market demand for your position.

To add a Recommended Skill, click on the skill and select the proficiency level.

You can also select Suggest More to view more Recommended Skills

Note: Skills extracted from your resume are most relevant to least relevant.

5: SkyHive recommends reviewing the skills to see if they make sense on your profile and if the proficiency level is accurate.

To edit a skill's proficiency level, click on it and select the appropriate proficiency level from Entry Level, Intermediate or Advanced.

You can also Remove the skill by selecting the x Remove Skill option.

Note: We recommend an average of 30-40, which ensures your skills profile is complete and SkyHive can better match you with opportunities. You are welcome to add more skills than this average, but they will need to be relevant to your past or current experience.

Step 6: Once content with your profile, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save & Continue.
