Requesting a Mentorship

SkyHive's peer-to-peer learning module (Mentorship) allows a learner (Mentee) user is paired with a teacher (Mentor) user to transfer skills. 

If the Requesting a Mentorship feature has been enabled in your Enterprise, you can select your Mentor.

Step 1: Under Training & Development, select the Mentorship tab followed by Request Mentorship

Step 2: You can make your New Mentorship Request by leveraging the following search criteria:

  • Mentor Name or Email
  • Position
  • Skills 
ADVANCED FILTERS
  • Department
  • Office

Alternatively, there are pre-selected Skills to Train that you can choose from.

You can remove them all by selecting Clear Filters or individuals to modify or remove by selecting an individual skill.

You may also select from Recommended Skills based on live labor market demand that derives from your current Position.

Step 3: Based on the skills you selected, you will be based with the best Mentor to teach you those skills.

You will not be able to view the Mentor's profile, but selecting the blue arrow next to their name will provide a breakdown of the Skills Covered and Not Covered.

Step 4: To proceed with a Mentor, you must select Request to the far right of their name.

Step 5: The requested mentorship must now be approved by a Direct Manager or Admin which you can view under the Mentorship Type dropdown. 

Note: A request may also be rejected or you may be asked to seek a new Mentor.

Step 6: Once approved, both the Mentor and the Mentee would Accept the pairing.

Step 7: Once the pairing has been accepted, it can officially begin.

Upon completion, the Mentor will Complete the Mentorship.

Step 8: The Mentor will now decide whether the Knowledge Gaps have been Fully Covered, Partially Covered or Unchanged

Once completed, the Mentee will see changes reflected in their Skills Profile where new skills have either been added, or existing skills have increased in level.
